Color Run!

I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun the Color Run was! We had the best time! Afterwards the kids told us we were the best parents EVER! :)

Another photo by Skip, thank goodness he was there because we obviously couldn’t take these! This is what happens when you finish the race…every 15 minutes each participant has their own color packet and you throw it all together! This is when we REALLY got covered!

Dude. This was FUN! The kids dumped theirs in their hair. I scrubbed their heads 3 times each and I still found more in Reece’s hair! HAHA!

There ended up being over 4500 participants. Some of the money raised will go to Read Bama Read, which is to put books back in the libraries destroyed by the tornado! So we had fun and it was for a GREAT cause! :)

Can’t wait for next year! Who wants to keep the baby?!! :)

The Happiest 5k on the Planet!

The Color Run is coming to Tuscaloosa this Saturday!!! EEEKKKK!!

A few months ago my sister and I decided to do the race! Of course we also decided to make our hubbys run it too! And then after a little research, we decided that the kids should run it too!

In case you are lost, that’s me, Josh, Griffin, Peyton, Reece, Allison, Brad AND Noah! Our team name is the GFG Color Squad! :)

So our first 5k…pregnant, with the kids! Maybe I’ve lost my mind or maybe it will be SO much fun!

I can’t wait!

Torch Run!

This morning Officer Hubby is participating in the Special Olympics Torch Run! The department that he works for and the department that he used to work for ran together. Hubs is in the front in blue :)

I would LOVE to say that I took these pics and was there because my office is right across the street BUT I was checking rental property with my sister and we were being COVERED in fleas!
And when I say covered I mean completely covered. Disgusting.
So proud of hubby though!

Big Mama works out!

Guess who started working out? Big Mama!! If you know us in real life then you know exactly who Big Mama is! If not, then I feel sorry for you! haha! No but really, she’s my 83-year-old grandmother!!!

So, what’s she doing in the gym? Everything! She’s only worked out twice so far this week and her range of motion and balance are already SO much better! She is walking better too! So exciting!

Now, I’m here to tell YOU…there is NO excuse not to be healthy and there is NO excuse not to exercise! You will feel SO much better! I promise! If my grandmother can work out, so can you!

So get off the couch and DO SOMETHING!

Healthy Pins!

What have you pinned on Pinterest this week? I found this on there a day or so ago…Ranch powder mixed with Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Tastes exactly like ranch without any of that fat and large amounts of calories and Greek yogurt is so good for you.  Perfect for getting people to eat vegetables without compromising the healthiness.

Do you like to eat ranch dip with raw veggies? Me too! Do you like yogurt? Me either! yuck! haha! BUT, if you take a packet of dry ranch and mix it in a 16 oz of non-fat, plain greek yogurt…it tastes the EXACT same and is WAY better for you!!! YAY!!! That’s what I had for dinner last night!

And don’t think that just because I’m on a big health kick that I’m not bad sometimes! I also made a red velvet bread pudding last night that was to DIE for!!!

Where have I been?

My poor blog has taken a backseat. :( I’m just a busy little bee!

I woke to this sweetness Saturday morning! I love how she is the perfect mix of me, Josh, Griffin and Peyton! There’s a little bit of all of us in her! Childhood Obesity

Griffin and Peyton spent the night with friends for the first time on Friday night! They had so much fun! They really have been missing these friends since we moved! Jordan and Zack are brothers the same age as Griffin and Peyton. They managed to always be in each other’s classes until we moved! (It’s crazy that that happened that way because there are more than 10 classes per grade at that school!) Anyway, I think it was good especially for Griffin being so upset about his teacher. And, by the way, he has been a turd for the last week…since he found out.

IMG_0661IMG_2134Since the boys were away Josh and I decided to have a date night with Reece! We never get to do that and it was SO much fun! We did exactly what she wanted to do…eat at Taco Casa then go by the gas station for a snack and a drink. Not kidding!

When we arrived at Taco Casa(for those of you not from here, it’s a fast food mexican restaurant. And I feel sorry for you if you’ve never eaten there!) I noticed there was a lady(mom), an older lady(grandma) and a child in there eating together. The child was about 8ish and VERY overweight. We ordered our food and sat down to eat. A few minutes later the child went and ordered herself THREE MORE burritos. On top of what she had already eaten. THREE. Y’all. Come on now! I can eat two when I am starving, with nothing else! I said something to Josh and we kept on about our beezwax. They left and about 5 minutes later we left. And that same little girl was puking in the parking lot. Really, you let your child eat so much she is now puking. Great.

I wonder how that mother justified letting her child eat that much? Surely she sees she is overweight? I felt so sorry for the little girl. It’s most definitely not her fault. She needs to be taught. Did you know that there are 25 million kids in America that are overweight or obese? 25 MILLION!!! That’s 1 in 3. And it’s time to stop it. I’m not saying not to let your kid eat candy, but I AM saying that they shouldn’t eat it everyday. And if you see your child is gaining a little too much weight, then start watching more of what they eat. AND GET THEM OUTSIDE! Because you know that if you don’t get their weight under control as a child, it’s going to be SO much harder on them as adults to control it!

GFG: Your Personal Gym!

I know y’all may be tired of hearing about the gym…but you have to understand that I have been living this place for the last 6 months! You have NO idea the little things that will pop up when you start a new business!

But it’s SO worth it.

First of all, we built this place dead in the middle of where that nasty tornado tore through our town. And it’s a great example of our city moving forward! Oh and GFG stands for God, Family, Gym. That should be your priorities, in that order.

Now THIS is a massage chair!

And one of everyone’s favorite spots…the rock wall!

For those of you too intimidated to stop by by yourself, we are having a grand opening on February 25th!!! 11-2. Come on by! We’ll give you the grand tour!

HEALTHY Cookie Dough Dip!

Oh to the em to the gee!!! IT IS!

The hardest part about me watching what I eat is watching the sugar. I love sweets! Did you get that?

I LOVE SWEETS.

I got this recipe from Chocolate Covered Katie .

  • 1 1/2 cups chickpeas (1 can, drained)
  • heaping 1/8 tsp salt
  • tiny bit over 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 1 T plus 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup nut butter (You can get away with using only 3 T. If you use peanut butter, some people say it has a slight “pb cookie dough” taste, so you can sub oil if you don’t want that.) *I used all natural peanut butter but next time I’m going to try to find a different nut butter*
  • 1 and 1/4 cup pitted dates –find these close to the raisins
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 T oats (You can omit)
  • nondairy milk as needed (depending on the consistency you want. I used a few T.)

In a bowl, cover the dates with 1/2 cup water. Let this sit for at least 8 hours. Then add all ingredients (including the dates’ soaking liquid), except chocolate chips, to a food processor and blend until very smooth.

The part to remember is that you have to let the dates soak for so long. I made this thinking that it probably wouldn’t taste as good as cookie dough. I mean come on, chick peas tasting good? Fooled me! Hubs loves it too! :)

Gettin’ Skinny and a Birthday Shout Out!

Happy New Year, Y’all! I rang in the new year asleep in my warm and cozy bed. Hubs rang it in protecting you from bad boys :)

Well yours truly is down to 117 pounds! Oh yea! Doing the happy dance! :) When we moved last summer our scale was broken. So I haven’t weighed since then….until today. I know when I went to the doctor last July I weighed 126 or 127. About six months ago I decided to make some changes in my eating and drinking habits. That means I switched from regular Mt. Dew to Diet Mt. Dew and cut waaayyyy back on sweet tea. And I started watching more of what I ate and how much I ate. I still ate food that was not so good for you, I LOVE any type of pasta or rice. Then there were the holidays and I DID NOT watch what I ate. But I pretty much don’t eat anything fried and I try to stay away from rice as much as I can.

In the last few weeks I have started to be motivated to get in shape…I want sexy arms and to get rid of belly flab. Since I am part owner of a brand spanking new gym I have NO excuse and it will happen! It also helps that Hubs wants to be ripped like The Rock by Christmas. And at the rate he’s going, he will! This week I’ve started counting my calories and I want to get down to 110, get those arms and tummy where I want them, and then get knocked up! :) Sounds like a plan, right?!

Soooo, the sister turns 25 on Sunday!!!! That means I’ll be 30 in a few months! 30!!!!! crap.
