Six Flags!

Yesterday morning bright and early we surprised the kids with a road trip! We hit the road at 6 am and they were so excited when they figured out we were on our way to Six Flags in Atlanta! Griffin and Peyton are our little dare devil boys…they wanted to ride EVERYTHING! Which is fine with me because I love to ride myself! Reece is tall enough for several of the big roller coasters now so she had lots of fun along with the boys! And the ones that I rode with them…I laughed so hard I cried! Her face was hilarious! This little guy was SO good! He is the best baby, we just drag him anywhere and everywhere…he’s so chill.  They have added a water park on to the theme park…it’s pretty much awesome because you get pretty hot riding rides, etc. and then you just change and head on over to cool off! I stuck with the little two and Josh rode all the water rides with Griffin and Peyton!We stayed ALL day and shut the park down when it closed! We had the BEST family day!

Barnyard

It’s been a while since I did a chicken update! I realize a lot of people could care less about a chicken update but they are our pets and TONS of fun!

Back in the early Spring we got some bantam chicks! I wanted some more fancy chickens! We still have our 5 white silkies but I wanted some different ones. They are super hard to photograph so I only have this picture…I LOVE the colors! We ended up with two like this one, two that are like this but a copper color and black, one that has gray feathers from head to TOE and one that looks like it may be some type of game chicken. It’s so much fun to buy them as chicks and watch what they turn into because they look completely different!

 

AND THEN!!!!!!! (Can you feel my excitement??!) I noticed a couple of my silkie chickens were starting to sit. They have their own private coop-those silkies are spoiled. So, I collected the eggs from our regular chickens and placed them under the silkies that were sitting. SIDE NOTE-We do not have a silkie rooster, they are all hens. In order to get a chick to hatch you have to have a rooster(OBVI) so that is why I collected the eggs from the regular chickens because we do have a rooster with them. Silkies are VERY good at being broody hens and SUPER at being great mommas! I checked on them daily and exactly 21 days later when I opened the back of the coop I heard a little cheap cheap!!There were two little babies in there!!! I can’t even tell you how excited I was! It was SO MUCH FUN! I grabbed them up and held them close and ran into the house to show the hubs!! The next day another one hatched! I had about 8 or so eggs under the two sitting hens and we ended up with three! Which is totally fine because we do not need anymore chickens! HAHA! Very soon after they hatched ALL 5 silkie chickens started to mother them. They are very docile chickens but if come near their babies they let you know that they are not happy! Here they are now…

This is what they do if you come near…they hoard them all into the corner and cover them.

So, I learned a new lesson during all this. From Big mama, of course. I gathered the eggs for several days in a row and put the eggs under the hens that were sitting each day. What I should have done is collected the eggs for several days in a row and just put them under the hens all at the same time…I would have hatched more this way because once the chicks start hatching the hens are taking care of them and can’t keep sitting on the others!

Now, onto the next project…GOATS!

I’ve wanted goats just as long as I wanted chickens. It’s just been a little longer in the works! One thing at a time…especially while managing 4 kids! ;) Hubby is about to start working on our new goat pen! We plan to get pygmy goats as soon as it’s done! I came across this picture yesterday and I thought I would DIE from the cuteness! I mean a BOW? And you best bet that mine WILL have bows. And, no, hubby is not as excited as me about our new little adventure. But he loves me and all my critters anyways! Heehee!

And I am totally not opposed to opening a petting zoo!

Gymnastics, Baseball, Gymnastics

Another baseball season is in the books for us! Peyton was the only one that played this year. Griffin is taking gymnastics and he’s dang good at it! And of course Reece is still taking gymnastics too!

This year Peyton moved up to the next age group and this group is where the kids do the pitching! It’s real, legit baseball from here on out! And it’s kinda scary because some of those kids throw FAST and don’t aim well so the kids get hit! OUCH! All in all we had a great season, but it keeps you running like crazy even with only one playing so I am glad it’s over! Peyton had fun with it, so that’s all that matters!We had a great team of boys…several cop kids on the team so that’s always fun for us! 

Peyton’s Awards Day!

Today we had Peyton’s awards day at school! We are so glad summer is HERE!

He got several awards including A/B Honor Roll for the YEAR!

My babies are so smart! BAM!

Anytime he saw I was trying to take a picture he would make a face or stick out his tongue…He will regret these one day! HA! This is his teacher, Ms. Lyons! She also had Griff last year and made sure she had Peyton this year! She loves him, even though he was a turd sometimes! Yes I just said that. We love her! Griffin ran into another friend that he wanted a picture with! YAHOOO Summertime! Bring on the beach! I can not believe we have a 6th grader, a 5th grader and a 1st grader!

Graduates!

We have had a super busy couple of months! Tomorrow is the last day of school and I am SO EXCITED!

Last weekend my little brother graduated from high school! It seems like yesterday that he was the ring bearer in our wedding and now here he is, all grown up. Sigh. I reminded Josh that we only have one more sibling to graduate high school and then next it will be our kids graduating! Holy Moly. I’m not ready!

   He’s a cool daddy…and very metro! haha! OH MY GOODNESS…I just came across this from the beach last summer…look a wittle Brooks!!Yesterday we had Griffin’s 5th grade graduation! Yep, he’s a middle schooler now. Again, sigh.

  With Mrs. Stromburg, his principal. And then today was Reece’s Kindergarten graduation! AGAIN, SIGH…make it stop.

This is one of Griffin’s friends, Caleb. His little brother is in Reece’s class and then they have a little baby sister. I seriously could stick all three in my pocket! Reece and her BFF, Lilly. Reece with her teacher, Ms. Ivy.    Why, yes, I look tired today. NO SLEEP last night.     My babies are all growing up SO FAST!!! I love my life, I’m so blessed!

Field Tripping!

Well, it happened again! Two kids with school field trips on the same day. BOO. Reece went to the zoo a few weeks ago and Griffin’s class went to Chattanooga! I went with Griffin, it was his last elementary field trip and I also had just gone with Reece on another small field trip. Her Gigi AND Papa went with her! They had a wet, rainy, cold miserable day but they made the most of it!

I was SO excited to spend the day with just Griffin! We really had a fun time together!

We started out at Ruby Falls! Such a fun place..if you’ve never been you should go! Then we went on a riverboat cruise for lunch! Next we went to a civil war museum and then a park where you can see for MILES! It was a very long but fun day!

Then, this week I went with Peyton’s class to Montgomery! Again, super excited to spend the day with just Peyton! We went to Old Alabama Town, where we learned how things were in the old days! Then we went on a riverboat cruise for lunch---why these field trips do these things is beyond me! Too many kids that can fall off the boat! Next, we went and toured our State Capital and then we ended at the Civil Rights Museum. Long, fun day! Poor Peyton had a baseball game as soon as we got back to town! He is still tired! Bless.Sweet friends. Emily is such a sweet girl, she has been so good to Reece since she started kindergarten. She was Reece’s first friend at school, she really just took her under her wing. I am so thankful for that. She even hung with her back in the fall at football games. Sweet kid! TWO more weeks of school! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
