Saying Goodbye

I don’t even know where to go with this so I guess I’ll just type.  We could really use your prayers right now! Josh’s grandfather(Paw Paw) passed away unexpectedly on Friday. I say unexpectedly, he was more than ready to go. And he really wanted to go before his wife, Maw Maw Betty, of 59 years. I can’t even tell you how many times he told me that. He fell out at home and she did everything she could for him until the ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital.

He was the sweetest man! He loved us all SO much. He lived a great life and unfortunately for us we are all selfish and wanted him here longer! ;) Josh telling the kids was the hardest thing. They are all old enough to know that he’s gone to Heaven. Griffin and Peyton took the news really hard. Griffin asked to go to the funeral and then asked to call Big Mama. They also wanted to go and visit Maw Maw Betty so we did that Saturday morning.

This is most of that side of the fam jam! Taken at last year’s family reunion!

On Sunday, Maw Maw Betty was taken to the hospital. She had a heart attack and has been in the hospital since. Monday night was Paw Paw’s visitation and yesterday was the funeral. She had to miss it. I can NOT imagine how she is feeling right now. The doctor’s basically told the family not to change the funeral arrangements because she would not be able to go anyway. A while back Paw Paw asked his preacher’s wife to sing Whitney Houston’s version of I Will Always Love You at his funeral to his Wife. So she did. And there wasn’t a dry eye in the church. One of Josh’s cousins works for a local TV station so they had someone there to film everything for Maw Maw. At least she’ll have that.

Paw Paw was super excited about this baby! He was even more excited about the possibility of it coming on his birthday, April 21st! My due date is the 26th. How sweet would that be? Makes me cry to even think about it.

Yesterday as I was getting ready for the funeral my mom called and said that she was headed to the hospital with my grandfather because he was having chest pains and shortness of breath. He’s still in the hospital as well.

And let me just go ahead and add that Griffin was not feeling well over the weekend and now Reece is full blown sick.

OH and I am almost 32 weeks pregnant.

Sheesh.

New Chicks!

Josh and I have been talking about getting some new baby chicks for a few weeks. My only hesitation was that I was hoping to squeeze in one more beach trip with the kids before the baby comes. I have finally decided that that is not going to happen.

My hormones are raging again. I’m nesting like a mad woman, like washing the wall behind the dryer nesting. Fun times. I got mad at the vacuum cleaner on Saturday and threw it in the trash. Josh and I had a date Saturday night and I was like, “oh by the way, when I got mad at the vacuum earlier today I chunked it.” HAHA!

Yesterday we decided that we better go and buy a new one. You know, since I’m nesting and all. Heaven forbid I NEED the vacuum and not have one! We also decided to run by Tractor Supply to get some chicken feed. As soon as we walked in the door Josh could hear the little chirps! ;) All I could hear were Griffin, Peyton and Reece as I waddled from behind everyone else! As soon as Hubby told me he heard the chicks there was not even any discussion about whether or not we would be leaving with a few!

The very first thing that caught my eye were these CUTE LITTLE DUCKS!!! Oh my word. The kids BEGGED, I mean BEGGED LIKE THEY NEVER HAVE BEFORE to get ducks. I really think we should and will stick to chickens! Maybe.20130217_151848 Apparently you don’t have to have a pond or large body of water to have ducks. But the chickens serve a purpose…what purpose do ducks serve besides the cuteness?!

So we ended up with these six! I cropped out the poop, you’re welcome!20130217_153955  And here they are all settled into their new home!20130217_164732

The chickens really have been a fun adventure for us as a family! The most fun thing for me is watching them fight over grasshoppers! ;)

30 Weeks!!

DSC_0625

A. Holy cow. I’m huge.

B. I promise that my shirt is clean, that spot is on my camera lens! Oops!

How far along: 30 Weeks!

Size of the baby: According to Baby Center, baby weighs 3 pounds(like a head of cabbage) and is about 15.7 inches long!

Total weight gain/loss: Up 27 pounds…probably more, that was last weeks number!

Maternity clothes: Yes.

Stretch marks: Old one.

Sleep: It’s ok as long as I don’t have heartburn!

Best moment this week: My best moment this week comes from Griffin. He totally caught me off guard with this one. “Hey Mom, do you poop when you’re pregnant?” Y’all!! I about died! I told him yes and he said,”Well, I’m just worried you’re gonna poop the baby out!” HAHAHA! I guess that’s the only logical place a 10 year old would think the baby comes out.

Movement: Yep, lots still!

Food cravings/aversions: Peanut Butter.

Gender: Your guess is as good as mine!

Labor signs: Braxton-Hicks that’s all.

Belly button in or out: In.

What I am looking forward to: Josh and I have a date tomorrow night! YAY!

ADHD times two

I’ve REALLY been debating about whether or not to post anything about this. But, it’s a blog about our life so it should be here, right? So, before you even read any further, if you have negative comments keep them to yo-self! K, thanks.

Peyton was diagnosed with ADHD last week.

If you have read here for long you know that Griffin has it also. Maybe you should know that we do not have any type of carbonated or caffeinated drink or candy in our house at any time. Sure, the boys have both every now and then but it’s not often. That’s not what causes ADHD anyway, I just know that some people aren’t educated about it so that’s immediately what they think. It is hereditary and boys are more likely to have it.

While Griffin wasn’t diagnosed until the end of his Kindergarten year we’ve pretty much known since he was very small that he had ADHD. I just knew. Peyton on the other hand, no. Never crossed my mind. In fact, his kindergarten teacher suggested it and I could have strangled her. I thought she was being stupid because she knew Griffin has it so she wanted to push pills on my Peyton too. “To calm him down.” Let me tell you. Boys are BOYS, Peyton is not nearly as much of a hyper child as Griffin. We got through kindergarten and his teacher retired, I really just thought she was over teaching and didn’t want to deal or something. Peyton’s first grade year was awesome! He had the sweetest teacher and she knew exactly how to handle him. I really don’t remember him being in any trouble that year, his teacher knew how bad the year before was and made us feel much better. His second grade year was last year, new school, new teacher. Kinda. She taught my sister when she was in school! She was a pretty good teacher too, but Peyton did get in trouble in her room, not following directions, etc.

Fast forward to third grade, this year. Peyton has the same teacher Griffin had last year. We LOVE her and know she wouldn’t steer us in the wrong direction ever. At our conference last fall she suggested that maybe we should have him tested for ADHD and gave reasons why, which really made sense. At the time we were still trying to figure out those “almost passing out” episodes and I really didn’t want to put him through two things at once, hence why we just tested him last week! We started on a medication this weekend and haven’t noticed a difference yet. It may take a little while to get into his system. Luckily, he doesn’t have ADHD “as bad” as Griffin and also doesn’t have the other things Griffin has so he can just take his medication to help him focus better at school, which is really his main problem. That makes me happy because it is SO HARD to have to give your child a pill every.single.day. I just feel guilty, but they need it right now.

And, if you are family and reading this and just now finding out…I’m sorry! I honestly just haven’t felt like telling everyone yet. It makes me sad so we’re just focusing on getting ready for the little peanut! :)GP

Happy Birthday and Happy Birthday!

Two words. Blog. Slacker.

Last Saturday was my sister, Kelsie’s, birthday! IMG_8929

Happy Birthday Kel Kel! We love you! And, of course, we wished her birthday happiness on her real birthday! And talked to her 975 times since then! That was just for the blog’s sake! hee hee!

Saturday was also our favorite nephew’s(Noah) birthday! The boys had SO much fun at his party. Reece just sat and played with a friend’s baby the entire time! She LOVES babies. We gave Noah his favorite present, a bubble lawnmower. I know it’s his favorite because he sneaks it into bed with him at night and sleeps with it! HAHAHAHA!

I love that kid! And if I didn’t see his entrance into this world I would swear he’s really mine! He sang a song about cupcakes on Friday when Allison and I took cupcakes to his school, he loves gummy swerms-ONLY the sour kind just like me(that’s gummy worms, only the Trolli brand!) and he lurves Skittles, just like Tay Tay! He has a song about those too! IMG_4004

Happy Birthday Noah! We love you!

29 Weeks!

Picture to come!

How far along: 29 Weeks!

Size of the baby: According to Baby Center, baby weighs 2 1/2 pounds(like a butternut squash) and is a little over 15 inches long!

Total weight gain/loss: Up 27 pounds.

Maternity clothes: Yes.

Stretch marks: Old one.

Sleep: Sleep was pretty good this week overall.

Best moment this week: Last night Reece finally saw my tummy moving around while the baby was moving. Her face was priceless!

Movement: Still lots of moving around. I noticed about a week ago that the baby seemed to be head down, my doctor was able to confirm that yesterday! Yay!

Food cravings/aversions: Chocolate and Skittles. Not together.

Gender: Don’t know! Reece has FOR SURE decided that it’s a girl. Peyton thinks so too! Griff wants a boy but hasn’t said what he thinks it is! :) Big Mama thinks we know what it is and just aren’t telling her! haha!

Labor signs: Braxton-Hicks that’s all.

Belly button in or out: Still in! Mine usually doesn’t come out.

What I am looking forward to: Getting the nursery finished! I need that off my plate!

My doctor’s appointment went well yesterday. Going every two weeks makes the pregnancy fly by even more fast! I’m kinda sad that I will never be pregnant again after this is over, but I’m WAY glad too! Can I just say that I don’t see how obese people function? I’m 27 pounds heavier than my normal self and it’s hard to get around and do things, I can’t imagine being hundreds of pounds overweight all the time.

Sometimes I wonder how on earth I get through days. Like yesterday…it was a whirlwind of a day. Peyton had a doctor’s appointment at 9:30, then I had to leave there and rush to my appointment at 11:00(very bad scheduling on my part!), then back to work to catch up for the day, when I got off work Reece and I headed to Walmart to get groceries. When I got home Josh was asleep because  he worked the night before and went to the doctor’s appointment with me and Peyton so I  put groceries away, feed the  kids, bathed the kids, made the kids read and put the kids to bed. And ended with Grey’s Anatomy! I don’t know how I survived all that 7 months pregnant! But I did and now I need a nap! ;)

What not to say to the pregnant lady…

First of all, Hubby got the baby’s room painted TWICE this weekend! YAY! The paint that we originally bought ended up looking light blue on the walls soooooo he painted again. Now it’s gray! Yes, I know he’s awesome!

I was just thinking about things that people say to me that drive me bonkers! Yes, there’s a list!

*”Oh you’re not finding out the gender? WHY?”(in their rude voice) I really want to answer, “Just to make you ask why.” Ugh. And, by the way, this was something I wanted to do since Reece was a baby so we’re not just doing this because everyone else seems to be doing it now.

*”Are you SURE there aren’t two in there?” This one REALLY gets me. And bless Big Mama, y’all know she’s one of my favorite people, but she says this to every.pregnant.person she knows!

*”YOU’RE HUGE!” Oh thanks for noticing. “And your BOOBS!” Yes, that too, would you like to have them?

*”Are you sure you don’t have your “dates” off?” For the love of all things holy. This is not 1982. There are ultrasounds to verify dates and I know when I had sex. Thankyouverymuch. Annoys me to NO end!

*”Y’all want FOUR KIDS??!!” I mean, what am I supposed to say to that. Actually we only want four biologically.

These are just things that I hear from people almost daily! There are plenty of other things too! Watch your words people, the closer I get to April 26th, the meaner I will be! ;)

28 Weeks!

DSC_0617 How far along: 28 Weeks, Hellloooooo third trimester!

Total weight gain/loss: Up 26 pounds. Didn’t gain any this week. I don’t know how!

Maternity clothes: Yes.

Stretch marks: Old one.

Sleep: I sleep really well for the first few hours that I’m asleep and then I kind of sleep on and off the rest of the night. Annoying. I know I can take a Tylenol PM or Benadryl but I’m not that annoyed. Yet.

Best moment this week: Watching my belly roll around!

Movement: I am beginning to prepare myself for Griffin #2! This little baby is SO SO SO active.
