Road Rage

Most of y’all I’m sure saw my tweet yesterday about almost getting shot. I really wasn’t kidding, I thought the big ole black lady was indeed going to shoot me or harm me in some way.

I was out running errands for work yesterday and was in a turn lane to turn left onto a main road. For you local peeps I was on University Blvd. making a left onto Lurleen Wallace. Well, for umpteen gagillion years now there has only been one turn lane there. And unless you are looking down at the road you have NO idea that they made the lane beside the main turn lane a turn or go straight lane now!! The traffic was too heavy for me to even see the road in front of me…so I had no clue. Well the lady in the lane to my right started driving straight and then decided that she was going to turn left and almost hit me, so I blew the horn…to keep her from hitting me. Once we turned we were at a red light and she was in front on me. She proceeded to open her door and get out and walk towards my car.

So I ignored her but acted like I was reaching for something like, I don’t know, a gun! She then got back in her car and said something to her son, who looked to be about 10 years old. He jumped up in the back window and SHOT ME A BIRD!!!!!

I do not kid. That’s how we need to be teaching our kids. Way to go.

For the love of Pete

Well, my friends, it’s been a while since we’ve talked about my road rage. Truth is, since I said I was going to get better, I did. My road rage was never really out of control anyway, but I was ALWAYS griping and yelling about people while I drove. I’m not saying I stopped all of this, I just got better. It just urks me when people are not paying attention, don’t risk my life, my hubby’s life or my babies lives because you are too busy talking on your cell phone, texting, PUTTING ON YOUR MAKEUP!(I really hate that one!), eating, etc. while you are driving! That’s how people get killed folks! So, I was doing better…

And then I got a new car…

And yesterday, well, I lost it on a girl. Kinda sorta. You see, I was driving down the road, headed back to the office from Chick-fil-A where I picked up yummy salads for lunch. I was in the left lane, seriously just driving the speed limit, minding my own bees wax. All of a sudden and I mean ALL of a sudden, the girl that was in the right lane just decided to come on over…didn’t even look! AHH! So, I slammed on the brakes, tires went screeching and of course I laid on my horn. Somehow, someway we didn’t hit each other. I don’t know how. I wanted to puke and cry and yell all at the same time! I took a deep breath, home girl slowed waaaay down, back in HER lane. I pulled beside her and said, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” She kept saying, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” And so I said, “Yea, you would have been sorry if you would have hit me because I probably would have kicked your tail.” (except I said the A-word) I really wish I wouldn’t have said anything. I shouldn’t have said anything. But I was so mad! I have to learn to control that! Right now. I should have just been happy that our salads were tossed for free!

And, no more bad words either. I usually only say them when I’m really mad, but I’m gonna stop that too. So, you may start to see things like “for the love of Pete” instead of “what’s your freakin’ problem”!

Crazy Woman Driver!

Sooooo, I kind of ran into a person with my car this morning.

Now that I have your full undivided attention, let me back up and start from the beginning!

Reece didn't sleep so well last night. So I'm tired. Very tired. I managed to get up, get dressed, get all the kiddos up and dressed and fed, feed the cat, kick the cat because she kept biting my leg(not really kick her, just push her with my leg) and make it out the door on time! That's big people! I left my cell phone in the car last night so as I was pulling out of the driveway I checked my messages and text messages. There was one from Allison at 8:30 pm saying that she almost passed out at her childbirth class! I called her to get the scoop and to check on her while driving the boys to school. As she is telling her story I/we noticed and dog standing on the side of the road. He looked sad and hungry. There was a big dully truck in front of us and he swerved his truck toward the dog and tried to run the poor thing over! Griffin screamed and I came really close to saying something to the man. The nerve!

All that just got me into a tizzy! After I dropped Reece off, I was stopped at a traffic light on campus. I was going to make a right turn(AND I was in the turn lane!). I was watching the traffic to my left waiting for my chance to go...well, the time came and I let off my brake and turned my head back to the right when BAM! I hit a guy. I just bumped him, but you know that scared him to death! I tried to apologize but he just kept walking, never even looked up! I guess he knew he should have not been walking so close to the cars and it was obvious that I was turning right. I still feel bad. Poor guy, he probably peed in his pants!

Why??!!

Why do people INSIST on driving in the left lane and go s-l-o-w?
Why do people run red lights? I mean flat out run them, not those "accidental I could not stop" ones. Did you see the T-News the other day? Where the guy on the motorcycle was hit? My mom drove up on that wreck right after it happened...his upper body was facing down on the pavement, his lower body was facing up. That was not pretty.
Why do people drink and drive? Putting yourself behind the wheel drunk and taking an innocent life is not ok. Especially when you are not from this country, not that it is any better if you are from here. Yes, that was for Carolyn..I miss her today :( I am pretty pissed that she did not get to meet my little girl that she was counting down the days to see.
Why do people look you almost dead in the eye and still pull out in front of you and then on top of that drive slow?
Why do I have such bad road rage? Because of all the people that do the crap above.
