Goner

It was cray cray at our house last night. We didn’t get home until later than normal because I went with Reece to her Open House at school and Josh took the boys for haircuts. By the time we went to bed we had two dead chickens, Josh had stepped on a bee or something, got a tick off of Griffin and Niko had a hurt leg. All along with our other crazy “normal” night!

Back to the chickens. I had a few veggie scraps for them so I sent the boys down to the coop to give it to them. Josh was cutting grass. A few minutes later Griff came inside saying he found two dead chickens and started to cry. So I ran out and got Josh and we went to the coop where, sure enough, there were two of our dead hens, belly up. And it was two of our favorite, most docile ones! GRRR!

Of course Officer Hubby launched a full investigation of the crime scene.

Turns out: It was the Rooster.

He is learning to mate and apparently he is, ahem, too rough.

As far as I am concerned he’s a dead rooster. I don’t know if Hubs plans to give him another chance or not. I say no. Because when we combine them with my silkie babies(who are so very delicate!) there’s no way they will survive.20120713_174029And you definitely don’t mess with my silkie babies!

Go-Karts

Typing that title makes me wonder what you people “up north” call go-karts!? Like you say “quads” and we say “four-wheeler”!

Random, I know.

I forgot these pictures were on Josh’s phone. We also took family pics on the beach that I will post soon!

When we were at the beach we decided to let the boys ride go-karts. Josh and I didn’t really want to ride and as it turned out, the boys are tall enough to ride on their own now. Tear.20120707_180307 20120707_18060220120707_180552 I figured it would be a mad competition with each other and the other go-kart riders!

But, no.

They were s-l-o-w. Putt, putt, putt.

Officer Hubby says that if they drive anything like that when they turn 16 he has nothing to worry about! HA!

Lost and Found

Soon after we returned home from the beach we discovered that our house was apparently struck by lightning. Lucky for us the plugs that were zapped were in the garage. My deep freezer had defrosted and water from it was everywhere.

Fast forward a day or so and I open the garage to leave for work and there stood Cracker Jack & Niko in the drive way. We have an underground fence that does not allow them on the driveway. Sometimes the batteries in the collars run down and they can get by the fence but never both of them. Niko NEVER goes anywhere near the fence. He is smart enough to know better! So them both being in the driveway meant that something was wrong with the fence.

Long story short, when the lightning struck it blew the fence box up. Literally. The company that made the fence is sending us a new one for pretty cheap and we are waiting on it!

Meanwhile, the dogs got into trouble. They jumped up on Josh’s pawpaw truck trying to get the cat and scratched it all up. So they were put in their pen. Josh felt sorry for them yesterday and let them out. When he woke up yesterday afternoon they were g-o-n-e. For reals.

Have I mentioned we live in the boonies?

So Hubs and the boys rode around for over an hour yesterday looking for them.

I silently began to freak my freak. I’m SURE someone would pick Niko up in a heartbeat.

Then I received a text from Hubby…20120716_182733 Turds. He knew he was in trouble!

They found another dog and were chillin’ with him.

Guess they’ll have fun in the pen until the new box arrives!

Rooster Puberty

I am very well aware that most of you could care less of how our rooster sounds. But in five years I want to remember how he sounded trying to learn how to crow! Because, well, I think it’s funny that he sounds like a 13 year old boy!

I give you Rooster Puberty!

Ulta Issues

Y’all!

For the love of Pete.

First things first, I LOVE Ulta. I spend way too much time and money in there! A month or so ago, they were offering free trial subscriptions to Allure and Glamour magazines. I saw them offering it but wasn’t asked if I wanted it. I would have said no because I don’t really do magazines. Well a couple of weeks ago I received the magazines in the mail. I just thought to myself, “Well, whatever.”

I am Anal Annie about checking our online checking account pretty much everyday. A few years ago this happened and since then I check things out regularly. Well, yesterday there was a debit in there for Glamour magazine for like $10. I called them and asked how they got my information and why they charged me for something that I didn’t ask for. The nice lady replied that they got my info from Ulta-my debit card number to be exact-for the magazine subscription. I politely told her that I wasn’t asked and that I didn’t want it. She was very nice and refunded me my money.

My beef is with Ulta. They have my debit card number because I have a rewards card with them. Why do they link the two? Why do they keep peoples credit card/debit card numbers? Why are they sharing those with other companies WITHOUT permission?

I really don’t want to break up with Ulta but I am pretty ticked off!!!!!

Fancy

When I was in high school(umpteen years ago) and still living at home we went to my grandparents’ farm and got two super sweet kitties! A girl, Fancy, and a boy, Max. Fancy is the stripped one, Max is gray. Fancy’s nicknames were Fancy Kitty, Frances, Francene, Kitty Kitty and Kitty Frances. Max’s were Maxton and Maxton Farsworth. Don’t ask.img488 They were so lovable! And they loved each other SO much! We used to say they “made-out” all the time…img489 img490

After a year or so we found out that Max had feline leukemia. He was fine for a while and then got really sick and we had to have him put to sleep. That day was awful! The vet sent him home that night so we could say goodbye to him and then my step-dad had to take him the next morning to be put down. Ugh, so sad. That was the day of my senior prom. img492

After that Fancy went a little cray cray. The main thing that we couldn’t handle was that she was peeing in the house all the time. My Mom decided to take her back to my grandparents’ farm. So they did. We would periodically check on her and one day my granddad said he hadn’t seen her in a while.

Six months later she showed up back at my mom’s house. That’s like 10 miles! AND she had to cross a very busy interstate!

Suffice it to say she was back home! AND she learned her lesson because she was the perfect kitty from then on out.

img493

A couple of months ago she came up missing for about a week. My parents decided that she probably we off and died. She was 13 so that would make sense. Then they were in the garage and heard her in the attic! She had been trapped up there for a week! No food or water. She recuperated from that.

Then a couple of weeks ago my parents were doing something in the garage and the garage door fell on her and killed her! Seriously. She survived ALL that and the dang garage door had to fall on her?

It was traumatic. She suffered because it was Sunday and the vet close to their house was closed. There wasn’t time to get her to the emergency vet before she was gone. :(

I’m not about to tell Griffin, Peyton and Reece. Griffin is still so upset about his teacher that passed away in January. I’m not adding to that. I don’t think he can handle it.

I’m just going to think about her and Max making out in kitty Heaven! :)

All you need is LOVE & the Beach!

We just got back from almost a week at the beach! It was oh so fabulous! Josh’s parents joined us for a day and my parents were down for the week. It was SO nice to have extra eyes for the kids! Not to mention extra entertainment! ;)

We watched the fireworks on the beach for the 4th of July. If you’ve never done that you should! They shoot them from a boat on the water! It’s so pretty!

Waiting for the fireworks…DSC_0475  20120704_195634 Beach time!DSC_0483 DSC_0481 This little girl was a total fish! Chicken Update: We have eggs!!

20120703_081319

Please excuse my half naked, fresh outta the bed child! He was excited!

Yes he eats.

Like a horse.

He’s just skinny.

Josh went down to clean out the coop this morning and found an egg! I am so surprised! I don’t know why, but I just thought it would be a little longer before we got any! But YAY!

In other news, we are headed to the beach! 20120701_174838
